El Tesoro Reposado is made at the La Alteña distillery in the Jalisco highlands using the traditional tahona process, where the cooked agave is crushed under a stone wheel. Time in American oak gives it a soft gold color and rounded notes of cooked agave, vanilla and light spice. Bottled at 40 percent from 100 percent agave, it sips well neat and makes a serious old fashioned. A good pick if you want a tequila that tastes like agave first and barrel second.
